Activities to Include in Your Colorado Elopement
One of the best parts about eloping is designing your day around being authentically and intentionally you. You get to include any (and all) of the activities you want—they don’t have to be the same old wedding traditions. I’m talking picnicking at the top of a mountain with incredible peaks displayed in the background or canoeing on a dreamy hidden lake in the Rocky Mountains.
The beauty of eloping is YOU get to choose the activities that mean the most to you. You get to decide how you choose to spend the day expressing your love for one another. I mean, how romantic is that? One of my favorite places for elopements, Colorado, is perfect for including the type of adventures and activities you’ll never forget. But if you have no idea what you want to include, I’ve got you covered.
I’ve spent countless (amazing) hours adventuring with the most incredible eloping couples, doing the most unique activities—you can say I’ve become a bit of an expert on what to include on your perfect day. There’s absolutely no limit to what you can dream up to make your day intentionally yours, but if you need a little help deciding, here is my list of favorite activities to include in your Colorado elopement!
Hiking or Backpacking
Can you name a more “Colorado” activity to include than hiking? I sure can’t. If hiking and backpacking through a dreamy forest to reach the summit of a mountain where you’ll exchange vows with one another is your jam, count me in!
Let’s put this into perspective: Imagine you wake up before the sun rises, hike to the perfect, secluded location, and watch the sunrise with the love of your life. Hiking isn’t for everyone, but sometimes those jaw-dropping backgrounds you see in photos require a little bit of effort to get to! But SO worth it!
Kayaking or Canoeing
There’s nothing more beautiful than a pristine mountain lake. Getting to step into a canoe or kayak after tying the knot sounds incredible to me. I mean, who doesn’t love that scene in The Little Mermaid when Ariel and Eric *almost* kiss in the canoe?! Seriously, swoon…
Off-Roading
This may not be for everyone, but if you’re wanting a little thrill on your elopement day, renting an ATV and off-roading through the Colorado mountains sounds pretty adventurous to me! Taking the road less traveled might lead you to the most magical place you wouldn’t have seen before—complete with a hidden alpine lake or a whimsical field of wildflowers.
Stargazing
If you know me, you know I love astronomy—the stars, the moon, the planets, I love it all (thanks, Dad!). I am always down for an elopement including stargazing. Just imagine all the dreamy, starry pictures you’ll go home with to remember your perfect day. Who wouldn’t want to spend the evening taking pictures with the most gorgeous sunset behind you, then stay a little bit longer, waiting for shooting stars? Whew, sounds magical.
Pack a Picnic
If there’s one thing you know about elopements, it’s that they often don’t include some of the regular traditions, like the big meal. But the beauty of eloping is that you get to create your own traditions. Packing a picnic (don’t forget the champagne) is a perfect way to enjoy each other’s company following your vows. Celebrate with your favorite meal, toasting to your love, and cutting your cake in a field of wildflowers or on top of a mountain summit.
Don’t Forget Your Bluetooth Speaker
I am all about the first dance, and while you CAN dance in silence, sometimes you want to include a special song just for the two of you. What better way to signify your love for one another than by bringing a Bluetooth speaker, putting on your song, and dancing while the sun sets behind you, turning Colorado peaks purples, pink, and orange. Just thinking about it makes me excited for you!
