Hey! I'm Hanna. Traditional photography isn't my cup of tea—and I'm guessing it isn't your either.
So let's throw out the rulebook.
I’ve got 8 years of experience with everything from weddings to music videos, a killer eye for artistic detail, and a knack for making you feel at ease in front of the camera—while still striking cinema-worthy poses.
Welcome!
Recently engaged? Con-freakin’-grats! Getting engaged is so exciting because now you get to officially spend forever with your human. And here comes the fun part: wedding planning. But what if the thought of planning a traditional wedding just doesn’t sound like your cup of tea? This is something I hear a lot from couples. They just don’t fit into the mold of that traditional, big wedding. And that’s okay! But, how do you know if eloping is right for you?
An elopement is more than just a wedding. It’s an intimate, often adventurous, way to get married that goes against the norm. It’s a way for couples to be fully, authentically themselves and design the day around that. However, eloping isn’t always right for everyone. If you’re considering an elopement, you might want to sit down with your partner and compile a list of the pros and cons. But in the meantime, here are a few reasons eloping might be right for you.
Honestly, there’s nothing worse than being the center of attention, am I right introverts? Listen, some people absolutely love being in the spotlight—those people have massive weddings costing an arm and a leg. That’s not you, is it? If the thought of people staring at you while you say your most intimate words to your partner or having all eyes on you as you have your first dance makes you cringe, eloping might be in your future.
Have you ever Googled how much the average wedding in the U.S. costs? No? Well, it’s faint-worthy. According to The Knot, the average 2020 wedding was around $19,000 and that was down from $28,000 in 2019. I mean, who wants to spend the average price of a car on a one-day event? Not me. Especially when you can use that money to have an epic adventure elopement combined honeymoon—and still probably won’t come close to those numbers!
Traditional weddings are full of, well, tradition. If you’re not one who is big on following the norms, chances are a big wedding might not be for you. Your wedding day is meant to be one of the happiest days of your life and those superficial, minuscule wedding details don’t feel important in the grand scheme of things. You don’t want to spend the months leading up to your wedding day thinking about whether or not people will like the food, making sure everyone and their mother is invited, and trying to have the most beautiful decorations. If you’re not like the average couple, a unique, adventure elopement is probably better suited for you!
My favorite type of couple is the one who says “we just wanna go with the flow!” Let me tell you, some of the best elopements are ones that didn’t come out as planned. If you’re more of an adventurous pair, then eloping is the way to go! The best part of eloping is that you get to create the day around you two—this means including activities you love doing together!
If you love traveling as a couple, eloping is the best way to incorporate that into your wedding day! So many couples travel to incredible locations for their honeymoon, but what if you could combine your wedding and honeymoon into one epic adventure? Just think about it. The sky’s the limit when it comes to elopement destinations, all you have to do is make sure you’re following the rules/getting the right permits (I can help with that)!
A big, traditional wedding requires you to spend a lot of the day making sure your guests are happy. I mean, let’s be honest, who wants that on their wedding day? You should be spending most of your time enjoying the day with your partner. If you want a day that is fully authentic, beautifully intimate, you should consider eloping. When you choose to elope, you get to decide every last detail of your day—without opinions from others. And let’s be honest, there is nothing more magical than being able to exchange your vows with the love of your life while soaking it all in, not worrying about anyone else.
If you’ve read through this post and the whole time you’re thinking “YES! That’s totally me!” then it’s time we talked! Not only will I capture your day, telling your story through photos, but I’ll help you plan your entire elopement experience. Let’s plan an unforgettable day together—fill out my contact form today!
