Hey! I'm Hanna. Traditional photography isn't my cup of tea—and I'm guessing it isn't your either.
So let's throw out the rulebook.
I’ve got 8 years of experience with everything from weddings to music videos, a killer eye for artistic detail, and a knack for making you feel at ease in front of the camera—while still striking cinema-worthy poses.
Welcome!
Planning a winter elopement thinking you’ll be stuck inside most of the time? Well, think again! Winter elopements can be some of the most epic elopements. There are so many incredible winter activities you could include to make your elopement extra amazing. Who said they were reserved for a couple of quick outdoor photos and then heading inside to get warm? I mean, if that’s your jam, I’ll roll with it—but then you’re going to miss out on some mega fun. Here are some amazing winter elopement activities to make your day unforgettable.
First up we have skiing or snowboarding. Let’s be honest, if this doesn’t scream epic winter activity, then I don’t know what does. If you’re an avid skier or snowboarder, this is the one for you. Board to your ceremony spot or ski down after to your post-ceremony celebration. There’s nothing quite like downhill skiing in your wedding clothes!
Snowshoeing can be a lot of fun because it doesn’t require too much skill. If you plan to venture far, you’ll want to learn how to snowshoe up and down hills, how to use your poles (if you bring them), and how to get up if you fall down. If your ceremony spot is covered in snow, this can be a fun way to get there. Not to mention, it’s easy for all ages, so if you have guests attending your ceremony, they could also enjoy snowshoeing alongside you to your location.
Ice skating is the quintessential winter activity. And if I’m being honest, you’ll probably look like an ice prince or princess out there in your wedding attire. I am daydreaming about it now. If you know how to ice skate, this can be the perfect winter elopement activity—especially if it’s outdoors. There’s nothing quite like stumbling upon a frozen lake you can skate on—it’s straight out of a fairytale!
Getting married around Christmas? Then you’re not going to want to pass up on this magical winter elopement activity. There is nothing more whimsical and dreamy than going on a sleigh ride through the snow. And yes, they do exist, but it does depend on where you’re eloping. Of course, before you book your sleigh ride you’ll want to make sure it’s ethical and all animals are treated exceptionally.
Dog sledding is another super unique activity you could include on during your elopement. I mean, who gets to say they’ve gone dog sledding through an enchanting forest over snowy hills before? Probably not many people. Glide through snowy mountains to your ceremony spot with the cutest pups as your guides. Similar to sleigh rides, before you decide on the perfect dog sledding company, make sure it’s ethical and the dogs are treated like family.
Snowmobiling is absolutely perfect for super adventurous couples! Rent snowmobiles and ride through the mountains, seeing all of the incredible views while you speed around. This can be a fun option to get to your ceremony spot, too! Anywhere outdoor winter adventures are to be had, snowmobiling is definitely accessible. If you want an exhilarating way to see the extraordinary views of forests, mountains, and open fields, snowmobiling is the way to go!
Eloping near a ski town? Hitch a ride up the gondola for a picture-perfect view of the mountains. This can be the perfect activity for couples who aren’t super adventurous but want to include something unique during their elopement. You get to see the most beautiful views without having to do a lot of work (or potentially dirty up your wedding attire). Plus, what’s more romantic than your own private gondola ride?
Okay, I couldn’t just end the list without including something to warm you up. When you’re all done adventuring, head inside (or outside) and start a fire. Make s’mores, roast hot dogs, and drink some hot cocoa for the perfect ending to the perfect day. Whether you want just an intimate moment with just the two of you, or you want to tell stories around the fire with your guests, there’s no better way to celebrate your love post-ceremony.
If any of these winter elopement activities sound perfect for you, then it’s time to start planning your epic cold-weather, snowy elopement. Plus, I am more than happy to help you narrow down the perfect activities to include on your perfect day. Are you up for an incredible winter elopement? Contact me today and let’s start planning!
