Yosemite Valley Couples Adventure Session
I visited Yosemite National Park for the first time when I met Hannah and Jason for their adventure session at Yosemite valley. I had never been before, so I was super excited! For a first timer to get to do a fun adventurous romp AND during golden hour was pretty epic!
If you don’t know what golden hour is, I’ll break it down for you! It’s about an hour before sunset, when the sun casts the most beautiful light over everything, and it’s a photographer’s dream.
Hannah and Jason were down to walk around the valley and go on a mini adventure with me tagging along as their third wheel. I could not have been happier! They brought their van for the shoot, which was so awesome. It’s always been a goal of mine to one day hit the road and live the van life! I live in North Carolina, which is full of mountains, parks, and amazing outdoor settings, so exploring is a big part of my life.
This shoot was really pivotal in my business. It was not only my first time shooting in Yosemite, but it was also when I realized that THIS was what I wanted to do. I realized as I was photographing this fun couple, in this amazing setting, with gorgeous light and scenery, that this was my calling.

This photo shoot sparked something in me. Big weddings are beautiful and can have such meaning behind them. But spending the day exploring with these two in such a carefree, intimate way made me realize that adventurous photo sessions and elopements are where I’m meant to be.
I love bigger, more traditional weddings – but the outdoors and adventuring have always had my heart. This was the perfect way to marry the two.

Planning a photo session at Yosemite isn’t as much work as you think. There are a ton of great resources available online, from finding any needed permits to exploring the different areas and hikes.
